Thanks for your positive feedback! I love when my kids join in playing along with me – better technique than me too. Sincere best wishes with your drumming.

No shaker involved, there’s a soft kind of regular whooshy sound that’s just a mixture of the drum sounds. You can here what it really sounds like in one of my later videos.

wefPurdue says:

Are you using a shaker near the last rhythm of this video?

Normthedrummer says:

Me neither. Just put in some relaxing time and go over the patterns and you’ll sound great!

GREAT lesson. Just picked up a djembe FINALLY and I am definitely not the musical one in my marriage so I’m really glad I found your videos.

Normthedrummer says:

No worries Avinash. There are more lessons coming this week!

Your basic pattern should for the fill should be:
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 1 and 2 and 3 and roll (taddee taddee taddee)
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 1 and 2 and 3 and roll (taddee taddee taddee)

Try playing the fill on its own a few times followed by the single first beat:

tadee taddee taddee 1
